Traditional foods including pyrohy (“pierogies”), stuffed cabbage, kielbasy and Ukrainian beer will provide the background for two days of ethnic and social fun at the 75th anniversity celebration of the Ukrainian Festival this year on July 29 and 30. With a history going back to a parishioners farm in East Syracuse, through Pope’s Grove in Lakeland, the NYS Fairgrounds, and now located on the grounds of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church on Tipp Hill, this annual festival brought over 11,000 people to it last year. The ODESA Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, as well as Irish dancers from All Saints School will provide live entertainment on Saturday afternoon and evening. A disc jockey on Friday evening, and the band, “BYDEM RAZOM” (Be Together) will provide dance music for all on Saturday night.
