Water St., on Saturday, Feb. 6, local roots and blues rockers Los Blancos spent the hours of 2:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. loading their gear into their van after a hard day’s night. But unfortunately, by the time lead guitarist Colin Aberdeen got back home and started to unload his gear, he noticed he was missing his blonde Yamaha SA2000 guitar. After getting back in touch with the Bull & Bear come sunrise, thinking he had maybe left it there, he was passed along the bad news that it wasn’t there, which meant only one thing: Some ignorant cretin decided to steal his main axe. So if anyone out there sees anything resembling it at a pawn shop, on eBay, Craigslist, or any other online barter site, please contact 420-4144 so we can get it back to its rightful owner.]]> <![CDATA[Winterfest 2010 Schedule - ]]> ]]> <![CDATA[URPIX for January 20 - ]]> ]]> <![CDATA[Wegmans Donation Program - ]]> ]]> <![CDATA[Asil's Pub - ]]> 220 Chapel Drive

More and more in Syracuse we got gray skies, right? The weather is cold, the job market is colder and more than anything else you wish to go to a place to go “where everybody knows your name”? Why don’t you give Asil’s Pub a try?

Asil’s Pub is located right on 220 Chapel Drive, and if you know Fairmount, that’s the same street as Fairmount Glen Miniature Golf. This is a bar like no other. It has a friendly atmosphere, and doesn’t get bogged down in any one category. Sure, they have 13 TV’s scattered throughout the place but the owner, Lisa, hesitates to call it a sports bar. She would rather I call it a “neighborhood bar” because of their warm treatment of “newbies” and their lack of pretension.

This is not the type of bar with a cover charge, nobody waiting to bounce you out, no lines at the door and plenty of parking. They also have some killer wings, and a beer list that rivals some of the hoity-toity places in Armory. The friendly staff is just waiting to serve you up a cold one and ask you how your day went. Maybe you’ll play a little shuffleboard, or maybe try your hand at darts. Or just sit back and let Andy, Lisa and her staff spoil you—maybe you’ll forget about the gray skies then!

Tax time is now upon us, and people all over central New York are trying to find ingenious ways to relieve their tax burden. As an advocate of the working-man I would be amiss if I didn’t let you in on one of the most obvious tax deductions I have found – Why don’t you donate your car to the National Kidney Foundation?

For the last 18 years, nestled among the quaint apartments and condos of Plum Court in Franklin Square has been Syracuse’s best kept secret. It is an eatery called Boulangerie. Don’t let the name fool you – this little shop has no pretensions. It’s just a gourmet sandwich shop that packs a big punch of taste.
