Shawn Wayne Hughes, 32, agreed to sell his 6-year-old daughter for $1,500, according to police in Kingsport, Tenn., who said Hughes told the buyer, a 75-year-old woman who agreed to his offer under police direction, that he needed the money to bail his girlfriend out of jail. After the North Carolina House Judiciary Committee approved a bill making it a felony to purposefully expose “private parts,” including a woman’s “nipple, or any portion of the areola,” state Rep. Tim Moore pointed out that women could avoid prosecution by applying duct tape to their nipples. “You know what they say,” Moore quipped. “Duct tape fixes everything.” (Raleigh’s WRAL-TV)

While serving time in the Gwinnett County, Ga., jail for paying an undercover police officer $3,000 to murder his neighbor and former business partner, Joseph Memar, 65, was caught again trying to have the man killed. Police Cpl. Jake Smith said Memar spread the word among inmates, met with a plainclothes officer during his visitation time, offered the officer $10,000 to kill the man and told him where to go to collect the money.
