Here’s the Beef

The Black Jack Burger starts with a half-pound all-steak burger seasoned with blackened spices, topped with pepperjack cheese, salsa kicked up (but in a pleasant way) with Thai sirachi sauce and sour cream, garnished with sliced scallions and served on a hard roll with lettuce and tomato and red onion slices; fries and a pickle come on the side.

Sure it sounds like Montreal, or Copenhagen, but it’s also a vision many in Syracuse have harbored for years. And finally, after frustrating stops and starts, movement in a bike-friendly direction seems to be taking place.

All these photographs prove once again the adage that the camera doesn’t lie. While the photographer can mess with aperture and focus and light to alter an image into something nearly abstract, the image remains grounded in reality. In the case of people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, reality can often sting.
