Don’t groan in dismay: This year’s Syracuse University Football season will start off with the same clean slate that it always does. University students and local fans will once again have a chance to optimistically cheer their team to victory, despite last year’s shaky 2-10 performance. With a little luck, even head coach Greg Robinson might be able to redeem the bitter aftertaste of last season, as he just may justify his job yet. The Orange will be putting on a clean set of jerseys for the first home game of the season, a matchup between our guys and the University of Akron Zips, on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Carrier Dome, 900 Irving Ave., starting at a to-be-announced time. While not exactly responsible for any kind of code, unlike certain rival Renaissance painters who share names with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Michelangelo has been regarded for centuries as an artistic master, having made high achievements in the spheres of sculpting, engineering and architecture in addition to other forms of expression during one of history’s most important epochs. If you’ve ever wanted to see the work of the master in person you’re in luck, as an exhibit titled Michelangelo: The Man and the Myth will run through Sunday, Oct. 19, at the SUArt Galleries on the Syracuse University campus in Shaffer Art Building. Original drawings from the painter of the Sistine Chapel will be on display, while special events and lectures held throughout the exhibit’s run will expose you to alternate viewpoints on Michelangelo’s work. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Sundays, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
