Beyond a Missed Deadline

 For the Scotsman Media Group, Tuesday, March 12, involved more than a seven-hour delay.


The company announced it was closing its 18 Pennysaver editions and laying off 60 employees, about one-third of its workforce, according to the Central New York Business Journal. The Scotsman said it would continue print commercial jobs and to publish the Valley News, Today’s CNY Woman and Finger Lakes Vacationer.


The company has print facilities in Syracuse and Binghamton and offices in Fulton, Auburn and Cortland. It said it would close the offices in Auburn and Cortland and cut jobs in the other locations.


The company prints the Business Journal and The Daily Orange, Syracuse University’s student newspaper.
