Arthur Storch, Syracuse Stage founder, dies at 87

Arthur Storch, who founded Syracuse Stage in 1974 and was its artistic director until 1992, died Tuesday. He was 87.

While leading Syracuse Stage, Storch was also chair of the Syracuse University Department of Drama.
 
Before he came to Syracuse, Storch was an actor, director and producer in New York City. He played the psychiatrist in The Exorcist and appeared on television in The Defenders, Studio One in Hollywood and The Phil Silvers Show. He was a life member of The Actors Studio.
