Our Hit Parade

The St. Patrick’s Parade may march down Salina Street the weekend before the actual holiday, but the traditions remain. Among those are the naming of the parade Grand Marshal and the Gael of the Year. That ceremony took place Jan. 10 at Kitty Hoynes. Once again, parade brass announced support for the St. Patrick’s Hunger Project. In that vein, they presented Tom Slater (right), executive director of the Food Bank of CNY, as the Gael of the Year. And after serving as one of many parade marshals over the years, former U.S. Attorney Thomas Maroney (left), a current professor of law at Syracuse University’s College of Law, received a promotion to Grand Marshal. This year’s St. Patrick’s Parade steps off from Clinton Square on Saturday, March 9, at noon.
