Fleet Feet Sports of Syracuse celebrates being named Best Running Store in America with a community party on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to noon. You may think that’s early, but to the thousands of runners in Central New York, noon is more like 3 p.m. The party starts with an ugly sweater run at 8:30 a.m., and continues with a champagne toast, gear giveaways and raffles, and beverages from Middle Ages Brewing Company. The Rescue Mission will be on hand to accept donations of food and other items. Music from Sophistafunk, house band at the party’s breakfast provider Funk N’ Waffles, will entertain revelers all morning. Owners Ed and Ellen Griffin (pictured above) accepted the award on Dec. 5 in Austin, Texas, alongside some of their staff. This accolade, part of the 50 Best Running Stores in America, came from Competitor magazine and Formula Four Sports. Fleet Feet is located at 5800 Bridge St., East Syracuse.
