Where There’s Hope

.
. . . . . .

Bob Hope spent so many Christmases entertaining troops stationed overseas during various wartime conflicts, he probably could not find the right time or vehicle to actually star in a yuletide movie of his own. The 1951 Paramount release The Lemon Drop Kid is that rare occasion, based on a Damon Runyon yarn about gamblers and horses, and filled with comic gags from ex-animator Frank Tashlin (who ghost-directed many scenes), hubba-hubba charms from co-star Marilyn Maxwell and the screen introduction of the popular Christmas chestnut “Silver Bells.” The Syracuse Cinephile Society offers its final show of the fall season (they’ll be back next spring after Cinefest) on Monday, Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m., at the Spaghetti Warehouse, 680 N. Clinton St. Admission is $3.50, with a tasty menu available. Call 475-1807 for information.
