Playing not-so-smart characters has always been a wise career move for Will Ferrell, as the 2003 yuletide comedy Elf has since become an unlikely holiday favorite with its mix of sentiment and silliness. The movie screens Friday, Nov. 23, 7:30 p.m., at the Landmark Theatre, 362 S. Salina St., and timed to unspool after the Christmas tree lighting ceremony a few blocks away at Clinton Square.
