Now in its 18th year, Bubble Halloween, the longest-running electronic dance music party in Central New York, returns to downtown’s Trexx Nightclub, 323 N. Clinton St., for another traditional yet relentless assault on the senses on Friday, Oct. 26, 9 p.m. VisionaryMindz Entertainment owner Michael Buttacavoli, better known by his disc jockey moniker Mikey Parkay, is instrumental in gathering the talent and constructing the spectacle, which began back in 1994 with the help of fellow platter spinner Andrew Kirchner (Dose the Alien). As a core member of the Binghamton electronic music collective Bubble Crew, Kirchner and Buttacavoli have been active participants in the local scene since the 1990s.
This year, Los Angeles-based deejays DatGirl and Zapper are the out-of-town headliners, with locally rooted DJs such as PhunGeye, Nicky Twist and more than 20 others reflecting the various genres and talent in the current scene.
Along with an unforgiving “10,000 watts of bass” pulsing through the night, the garish event, this year dubbed “The Monster’s Ball,” will feature 3D projections, “extreme lasers,” art installations and appearances by go-go dance troupe Elite Divas. There will be an ongoing Halloween costume contest as well, with $100 going to the winner. “ Admission is $10 for the first 50 people, $15 in advance, and $20 at the door.
