If it’s September, it means another batch of live performances from legendary saxophone swinger Jimmy Cavallo at downtown’s Festa Italiana, running Friday, Sept. 14, through Sunday, Sept. 16. The ethnic blowout again holds court near City Hall, sprawled across the intersection of Washington and Montgomery streets, with tents filled with gastric goodies and some spirited libations, with bocce tournaments, children’s activities and an outdoor stage that will host musicians such as Letizia and the Z Band (Friday, 6:30 p.m.) and Atlas (Friday, 9 p.m.), entertainment from Dance Centre North (Saturday, Sept. 15, 4:30 p.m.) and even a Roman Catholic Mass (Sunday, 11 a.m.). Cavallo (pictured at left at July’s New York State Blues Festival) opens the stage on Friday at 4:15 p.m., and closes the fest on Sunday at 5:15 p.m., plus a Saturday show at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free. For information, call 463-5134.
