Joanne Shaw Taylor

.
. . . . . .

The British-born Joanne Shaw Taylor has the rasp of Dusty Springfield and nails the dirty blues guitar licks of her mostly-male blues predecessors—and does it all with some blonde hair and blue-eyed charm. On Sept. 12, the guitar goddess will drop her latest Ruf Records effort, Almost Always Never, her third studio release, and on Thursday, Aug. 16, at 9:30 p.m., she’ll bring the party to the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, 246 W. Willow St. for a free show. Taylor was named the Best British Female Vocalist of the Year in both 2010 and 2011 at the British Blues Awards and recently performed with legendary singer, Annie Lennox, at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at Buckingham Palace in London on June 4. She’ll bring her steaming guitar work and distinctive voice to the Dino as long as the crowd brings ears to listen to the lady let it rip. For more information, call 476-4937.
