Sterling Renaissance Festival Heroes Revealed

.
. . . . . .

My hero is my 5 year old son Ryan.  At almost 3 he was diagnosed with a "massive" brain tumor.  The day after his diagnosis he endured a 9 hour surgery which was followed by months of recovery.  He never once complained, just did what needed to be done with a smile (and occasionally a small wimper) as he flushed his own Hickman line and G-Tube.  He taught himself to walk again a month after his surgery when he was tired of being carried everywhere.  We moved to Boston for 6 weeks for proton radiation and Ryan took that just as well as everything else...eventhough he had to be put under anesthesia M-F and couldn't eat until after the radiation he never once asked for food or complained about having to go everyday to endure something that would make an adult squirm.  He still goes frequently for MRI's where he still needs to be sedated.  He says he likes getting the "pictures of his head taken and wearing the tickle mask" that puts him to sleep.  Ryan and all the other children like him who fight cancer everyday yet take it in stride and do thier best to enjoy every minute are my heroes!!!

Please consider my girlfriend for my hero. she has endured a gastric bypass 4 years ago. and two  cornea transplants, despite all this, she has managed to make sure i have a clean stress-free home to come home to. i hereby nominate my girlfriend to be knighted as queen for the day. please pick her,as i know she more than deserves the recognition. she is my queen everyday, especially over a 12 year relationship.

Hello

I would like to nominate my daughter Willow as my Hero!  My daughter is only 11 but has donated her hair 4 times to Locks of Love, Raised money at her school for an abused animal, and recently worked a 14 hour day at the SPCA Bikes and BBQ event last Saturday.  Willow is constantly helping the neighbor with her 2 year old daughter and makes time to still try and get her older brother to like her. My daughter has a heart of gold and gets a bit picked on at school for her weight but she is easy to forgive those that even I do not think she should forgive. Being a full time student and single mom we don't get to do many "Special Things", this would be something very special for her to receive and would encourage her to stay the beautiful soul that she is.

Thank you for the opportunity to just talk about her.

"Huzzah!"
