Remember way back to the days before the Jersey Shore was all about fake tans and Snooki poofs and the music of some legendary bands might come to mind. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band made their way from the swamps of New Jersey and so did Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, with ringleader Johnny Lyon (pictured) and his crack outfit performing as part of the Munson- Williams-Proctor Arts Institute’s Great Artists Series on Saturday, Sept. 17, 8 p.m., at the Stanley Theater, 261 Genesee St., Utica. With more than 30 albums to date and a long list of classics including “We’re Havin’ a Party” and “I Don’t Want to Go Home,” the band’s Stax-influenced rock, rhythm’n’blues will bring the shore party to Central New York. Tickets are $26, $36 and $71. For Stanley information, call 724-4000. For details on Munson-Williams-Proctor, dial 797-0055 or visit www.mwpai.org.
