It’s always cool to watch professional golfers in action, especially when they’re practically in your own back yard. The fourth annual Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge tees off on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 11 a.m., at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino’s Atunyote Golf Club, off Thruway Exit 33 in Verona. The foundation raises awareness and funding for the improved health and wellness of Native American youth on Indian reservations nationwide. And in addition to supporting a good cause, it’s a swell opportunity to see classic golf swings in action, with this year’s participants slated to include Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan, Annika Sorenstam, Cristie Kerr, Natalie Gulbis and Suzann Pettersen. Begay’s longtime buddy Tiger Woods (pictured, at left) is also on the card, and while he has struggled in recent tourneys, Woods should appreciate the always friendly fairways at Atunyote. Admission is $50, with children 16 years and younger admitted free with a paid adult. For information, call 361-8006 or visit www.nb3challenge.com
