Le Moyne College’s Center for Continuing Education supports adult students as they endeavor to enrich their lives and their community through undergraduate evening degree programs, certificate programs and credit courses. Evening degrees are offered in information systems, nursing, sociology, psychology and English, as well as New York state teacher certification.

For individuals seeking to enhance their professional qualifications or acquire valuable new skills, evening certificates are available in human resource management, information technology, holistic aging and post-baccalaureate RN to MS in nursing. This fall the college will unveil two new certificate programs in government systems management and health information systems. The government systems management certificate program prepares students to conduct business with the government by providing them with the necessary legal and regulatory framework. The health information systems program certificate equips students to address two of the health care industry’s most significant challenges: improving the level of care and controlling costs.

Le Moyne’s “Success for Veterans” program provides veterans and their dependents with a one-stop service center, from the time they enroll in the college until their graduation. Transfer credit for military courses can be awarded on admission. Other services include orientation to academic life, advisement, academic support and tutoring, participation in the student-veteran community, mentoring, career counseling, and access to local resources for veterans. Student-veterans also enjoy the use of the Veterans House, with study and gathering areas.

Advisers at Le Moyne’s Center for Continuing Education provide each student with intensive, personalized support in planning their education and adjusting to life on campus. They are also ready to work with those who want a new challenge and opt to change careers.

“Our goal is to ensure each student’s academic success, and to help them maximize their individual strengths and explore their potential,” says Patricia Bliss, director of continuing education. “That is a commitment we take very seriously.”

Le Moyne’s graduate programs provide the opportunity for adult learners to advance their careers and expand their professional horizons. Master’s-level degrees are offered in New York state certification for teachers and educational leaders; general professional education for those interested in working with adult education, health services and nonprofit organizations; physician assistant studies; business administration; and nurse education and nurse administration. A certificate in adult education is also offered.

Alumni and current graduate students are engaged in our community: collaborating with urban, suburban and rural elementary and secondary schools; treating patients in hospitals, clinics and private practices; promoting nurse education and teaching; and directing and providing strategic plans in small businesses and corporations.

“Through their applied knowledge and skills, Le Moyne students contribute so much to Central New York,” says Kristen Trapasso, director of graduate admission. “Their many partnerships with business and industry help in maintaining the vitality of this region.”
