Phillips Hairstyling Institute is celebrating its 30th year in business. In 1980, Steven C. Phillips bought the school he had graduated from eight years earlier. His approach to education has been recognized locally, statewide and nationally. His advanced training with some of the world’s masters helped him develop an excellent method of teaching hair cutting and styling.
He believes that his philosophy of “students come first” is the backbone for 30 years of successful graduates. The school has assembled an outstanding staff of instructors, many of whom are Phillips graduates, with an average of nine years of teaching experience.
Further illustrations of Mr. Phillips’ “students come first” philosophy is the school’s convenient full-time day schedule of Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., which allows students to complete the program in 10 months while attending classes only four days a week. The school utilizes a state-of-the-art teaching method known as the Pivot Point Fundamental System, and a product line from Wella. It provides an opportunity for students to gain the New York state education requirement necessary to take the State Board examination for licensing at thousands of dollars less than its closest competitor.

The school’s newly renovated facility is located at 709 E. Genesee St. in the heart of the Connective Corridor, next to the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
