Ugly Fruit

The photo (above), shot at the Jan. 25 debacle known as a game against Seton Hall, provides an apt image of what’s happened to the Syracuse Orangemen of late. Victories have become futile, with SU compiling four straight losses in the face of a tough road game Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Connecticut, and dreaded Georgetown coming to the Carrier Dome a week later. If the Orange don’t squeeze out anymore quality wins this season, it could be National Invitation Tournament time again. Paging Eric Devendorf!

High-Tech Miner

The annual State of the City address could have been a complete downer, with Mayor Stephanie Miner talking about all that is wrong with municipal government. While she did touch on the challenges facing the Salt City in the Jan. 26 speech that was broadcast on WSTM-Channel 3’s digital portal, she also spoke optimistically about a Syracuse for the future.

Among the moves she has already overseen are the city’s new web presence, on both You Tube and Facebook.
