Seeing Red?

.
. . . . . .

Back on Sept. 29, in our Best of Syracuse edition, we ran the following Michael Davis photograph and asked readers to submit a caption to that photo. While some of the entrants thought the water was colored orange when Davis took this photo, he assures us it was red. Here are the entries, with the winner selected by our crack editorial staff.

Thanks to all who participated.

And the winner is:

“Bloody Marys for all at the Inner Harbor! Please bring your own celery!”

(Roger Moore)

“Blood, sweat & tears.” (Michael Robinson)

“Syracuse Orange.” (Ed Tarney)

“First-born male Egyptians flee Syracuse. Tomorrow’s weather: partly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of flaming hail.” (Jim Laury)

“Moses was here.” (Andrew Schep)

“Woe is me. Hide me (dredge me) quick before the tourists see. Harbor me away from others ’til the clarity returns.” (Arleen Fordock)

“I guess it beats oil.” (Seth Marcel)

“In Syracuse, Orange is in our blood, our streams, it’s EVERYWHERE!” (Shirlee Angerame)

“The body & blood of man.” (Johnna Rolland)
