Election Day Spaghetti Supper 2009

.

Meatball Mania

The local campaign trail officially ends at Our Lady of Pompei School, 915 N. McBride St., where the annual Election Day Spaghetti Supper, will commence on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. It’s a scene-to-be-seen affair as area politicians, whether they’re running for office or not, head to the school’s cafeteria for a spaghetti entree plus meatballs, salad and dessert. If you remember what happened to New York Senate wanna-be Rick Lazio when he declined a sausage sandwich at the New York State Fair, you’ll know why all smart Central New York pols squeeze this North Side tradition into their Election Day schedules. The supper, which benefits Our Lady of Pompei and Cathedral Academy at Pompei, is marking 60 years of pasta repasts, which is a whole lotta meatballs; in fact, an estimated 6,000 meatballs will be served during the 2009 menu. Supper prices are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for ages 5 to 10. For supper information, call 422-8548; to volunteer, call 427-6474 or 345-0562.
