Oak Ridge Boys

.
. . . . . .

Backed by a remarkably versatile five-piece show band that sparkled from piano to fiddle, Duane Allen’s tenor was lively on “Sail Away.” Richard Sterban reached deep on “Dream On” and Joe Bonsall, the group’s kid at 61 years old, was energetic on a rare cover, New Grass Revival’s “Callin’ Baton Rouge.”

But true to form, this famed quartet
was invariably at its best when they sang together, beautiful harmonies
blending in classic form on the gospel number, “Dig a Little Deeper”
and the golden chestnut “Y’all Come Back Saloon, ” with an a cappella
chorus proving one of the show’s bright spots.

For longtime fans, it was a reunion,
one Bonsall told the crowd that he and his mates relished. Before
closing, the Oak Ridge Boys joined in on the Fair’s Veteran’s Day
tribute with a couple of songs that fit the spirit.
