Sometime over the July 4th week-end, someone scrawled this message on the window of the ArtRage Gallery in the Hawley-Green neighborhood of Syracuse. We presume it was motivated by our display of Gay supportive posters, books and pins visible through the window of our retail shop, PosterWorks. Most visible is a poster proclaiming “Generation ‘Q’: Young - Proud - Queer”. The window scrawl reads: “There is no such thing as a proud Queer!”.
We beg to differ and hope that you will find a way to publicize and criticize this behavior. We’ll leave it up for a few days in the hopes of starting a dialogue about it. Thanx in advance for your interest. For more info contact Rose Viviano at info@artragegallery.org or call 218-5711.
P.S. Members of the gay and straight community plan to gather at the ArtRage Gallery on Friday, July 10 from 5-7pm to post positive messages of gay pride in our windows in an attempt to turn this negative incident into an expression of positive energy.
