Crystal Gayle, best known for
her 1977 hit “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” was inspired to pursue
a musical career by the success of her older sister, country icon
Loretta Lynn. In collaboration with Tom Waits Gayle went outside of her
country-pop in recording music for One from the Heart, a 1982 film from director Francis Ford Coppola. Gayle has taken a religious slant in recent years, having released We Praise! He Is Lord in 2006 on the Braun Media label. Gayle will make a stop at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino Showroom,
Thruway Exit 33, Verona, on Thursday, Jan. 22, 8 p.m., as part of a
tour that will take her through Nevada, New Mexico, Indiana and Georgia
later this year. Tickets are $30, $35 and $45. For more information,
