Former WNDR-AM 1260 disc jockey Jack McNamee walked down the aisle with his new bride Patty Liesche during an early summer ceremony at the community room of Loretto’s Sedgwick Heights.
Both are residents of the assisted living community on 1100 James St.,
with the canoodling apparently kicking into gear when McNamee moved
into Sedgwick Heights in 2006. McNamee, aka “Happy Jack,” held an
afternoon shift at WNDR during much of the 1960s and early 1970s as
part of the “Good Guys” troupe alongside Jim “Obie” O’Brien, “Dandy” Dan Leonard and “Big” George Plavocos.
During his deejay days, McNamee was perhaps best known for his
breathless delivery and his uncanny ability to “talk up” a song during
its instrumental introduction before the vocals kick in. It’s sort of a
lost DJ art, with the only current practitioner being Rick Wright’s Sunday-afternoon ramble on WPHR-FM 106.9. But that’s another story. . .
