Claus and Effect

.
. . . . . .

Nothing says Christmas better than the 1982 movie A Christmas Story,
the holiday perennial with Peter Billingsley as the bespectacled
Ralphie, unafraid of the eye-popping possibilities of owning a Red
Ryder BB rifle, which happens to be his request to a department-store
Santa. Darren McGavin as his gruff dad provides plenty of comedy relief
in director Bob Clark’s warm and witty look at the yuletide season in
the 1940s. The movie screens in a 35mm print on Sunday, Dec. 14, 3
p.m., at the Landmark Theatre, 362 S. Salina St. Adults are $3, with free admission for children 5 and younger. For details, call 475-7980.
