Garden of Earthly Delights

.
. . . . . .

“It’s a very environmentally good thing
to do,” continues Vennard. “There’s less shipping of food and more
support for local farmers.”

The tour isn’t completely about its fine
eats, though. The self-guided stops promise to take drivers among the
counties’ finest scenic views, as roads leading through family farms,
vineyards and orchards will be a part of the tour for one’s viewing
pleasure.

Notable stops along the tour include Rensselaer County’s Liberty Ridge Farm, 29 Bevis Road, Schaghticoke ((518) 664-1515), an award-winning interactive historic farm, as well as Albany County’s Indian Ladder

Farms
, 342 Altamont Road, Altamont ((518) 765-2956), which features nature trails, cafes, picnic areas and a petting zoo.

This event marks the first ever
collaboration among the three counties and they’re hoping it marks the
beginning of a new tradition. “We’re very excited and we’re hoping it
will become annual,” says Vennard. You can easily access the Capital
District by taking the Thruway east to Exit 24. For more information
about the event, visit www.gardenofeatingtour.com or call (800)
258-3582.
