The music that got started at July’s Jazz In the Square gala will keep rolling during subsequent Jazz In the City
events, abbreviated concerts that are meant to highlight the Salt
City’s neighborhoods with outdoor performances from local and national
musicians. The first event of the Thursday-night series featured the BlackLites and Will Holton on July 31, with three more concerts set for August. Music from La Familia De La Salsa Latin All-Stars and the Afro-Cuban group La Rumba Cubana will be performed on Thursday, Aug. 7, 7 p.m., at the West Side’s Skiddy Park, off Oswego and Otisco streets. Remaining concerts will feature Hammond B3 player Tony Monaco with special guests Joe Carello and Jeff Stockham on Aug. 14, 7 p.m., on the 700 block of North Salina Street, and local sax luminary Evan Knight and New York City player Matt Marshak in the parking lot of Pomco, 2425 James St., on Aug. 21, 7 p.m. Admission is free.
