Native Ball

.
. . . . . .

The Haudenosaunee confederation
comprises the people of the Iroquois tribes of the Onondagas, the
Oneidas, the Mohawks, the Cayugas, the Senecas and the Tuscaroras, all
spread throughout the Northeast. Those proud Native Americans will
celebrate their history during the second annual Honoring the Haudenosaunee festival at downtown’s Hanover Square
on Sunday, Aug. 3, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. This year’s fun-filled mash-up of
activities, all of which ultimately fund scholarships for Native
students, features artists, crafters, dancers and speakers who will
highlight the beauty of Haudenosaunee culture. Native performers on the
main stage will include Grammy-winner and local songstress Joanne Shenandoah from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., and newly inducted Syracuse New Times Syracuse Area Music Awards (Sammys) Hall of Famer Sandy Bigtree from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 420-1045.
