Celebrate the return of hydroplane racing to Syracuse with the 2008
Hydrofest, held at Onondaga Lake Park, 106 Lake Drive in Liverpool, on
Friday, July 11, through Sunday, July 13. The sport, consisting of a type of motorboat used specifically for racing, was last held in Syracuse in 1999. The boats will be on display for the Hydrofest kickoff party, Friday from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., at Syracuse’s Inner Harbor, 390 W. Kirkpatrick St., as local bands Under the Gun and Emerald City provide the background music. Races will take place Saturday, July 12, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All Hydrofest events are free. For more information, call 458-2701.
