Anglers 16 and younger will have a whale – or maybe just a fish – of a time during this weekend’s Hiawatha Lake Fishing Derby at Onondaga Park, located in Strathmore and bound by Onondaga Park Drive, on Saturday, May 17, starting at 11:45 a.m. Three age categories—up to 8, 9 to 12 and 13 to 16—will compete to catch the smallest fish, a twist on the traditional fishing competition rules. Those who hope to cast their lines should bring their own bait, tackle and pole, and may register starting at 8 a.m. through the beginning of the derby. Registration is free. For more information, call 473-4330.
