Syracuse International Film Festival: The 10-Minute Break

And
judging from the plot, don’t expect a kissing cousin to The Last Detail,
either. A Marine deserter named Jong-ki (Jong-won Kil) is pursued by
Sergeant Shin (Won-sik Kim) who has five days left before he is
discharged from the service. The sarge is accompanied by Private Ssong
(Chang-hoon Lee), who isn’t quite prepared for his superior’s bizarre
behavior; then again, Ssong is also reeling from the humiliating events
that took place on his recent leave, which are retold in discomforting
flashbacks. Voyeurism, human sexuality and a last-minute cover-up all
neatly dovetail in Lee’s intense, compact drama. A U.S. premiere. Ballroom, Saturday, May 3, 9:45 p.m.
