Syracuse International Film Festival: A Noisy Boy

.
. . . . . .

When Young-tae (Wan-geum Ji)
becomes the classroom monitor when the teacher leaves, he intends to
rat out Jae-min (Min-sae Son) for talking—unless Jae-min surrenders his
birthday gift, a brand-new PlayStation. Jae-min hopes to turn the
tables with fellow student Joon-young (Min-seok Kim), who wears the
badge of a “school sheriff.” What emerges is an engaging morality play
that yokes the complexities of childhood and the lure of trading cards,
with a rather blunt final image that displays Ahn’s dim view regarding
the corruption of power. A U.S. premiere. MOST, Saturday, May 3, 4:15 p.m.
