With the nation falling in love with ballroom dancing, the Hotel Syracuse’s Grand Ballroom, 500 S. Warren St., will host the Dancing with Our Stars gala
on Friday, April 18, 6 to 10:30 p.m. The event kicks off for the
capital campaign to save the Barnes home, 930 James St., site of the Syracuse Corinthian Club, The George and Rebecca Barnes Foundation, Preservation Association of CNY, Junior League and the International Center of Syracuse University. The night features a buffet catered by Pascale’s Wine Bar and Restaurant and a ballroom dance contest featuring some of the city’s more notable personalities including WCNY-Channel 24’s Liz Ayers, Palace Theater owner/politician Michael Heagerty and “Mrs. Fixit” Terri McGraw.
After the performances, the audience will have the opportunity to cast
their ballots to name the winner; an award ceremony follows, then the
dance floor will open up for everyone to enjoy. Syracuse New Times publisher Art Zimmer helped produce the show. Tickets are $125. For more information, call 422-6883.
