Bartlett works at Crawford & Stearns, a Syracuse architectural firm
specializing in historic preservation, and was an invaluable resource
while Syracuse New Times editor Molly English-Bowers was
researching a 2001 cover story on the deplorable state of city
monuments. He is pictured here showing damage to the monument that
stands in Washington Square Park. The Mansion House, which was home to
the 19th century’s utopian Oneida Community, is located at 170 Kenwood
