Jam-banding was born on New Year’s Eve, 1963, when 16-year-old Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia formed Mother McCree’s Uptown Jug Champions. Later renamed The Warlocks, the band would one day become the Grateful Dead. Bob Weir and RatDog began as a side project for the Dead’s “Ace” ryhthm guitarist and when the band disbanded in 1995 following Garcia’s death it became Weir’s lone gig. Weir’s band of gypsies will psychedelicize the Landmark Theatre, 362 S. Salina St., on Saturday, March 29, 8 p.m. Tickets are $40. For more information, call 472-0700.
