The Blacklites: The local party band
that wowed the Syracuse Jazz Festival in 2007 will perform as part of
Sunday’s Homegrown Talent Showcase at the New York State Fair. MICHAEL DAVIS PHOTO
With all the negative hoopla surrounding music promoter Live Nation’s involvement with the New York State Fair’s
Mohegan Sun Grandstand performances (all of it deserved), be sure to
check out one of the nicer gestures made by the Fair’s promoters during
the Homegrown Talent Showcase at Chevy Court on Sunday, Aug. 31. The Fair will give props to a handful of the top party bands in the region: Hit ’N Run from Buffalo will get the party started at noon; Prime Time from our home turf will then perform at 1:30 p.m.; The Refrigerators, an Albany-based group, will perform at 3 p.m.; Binghamton’s Splash rocks out at 5 p.m.; Prime Time Funk, from Rochester, performs at 7 p.m.; and headliners The Blacklites wrap the daylong program at 9 p.m. Admission is free with $10 Fair admission. For more information, call (800) 475-FAIR.
