The SAMMY Award winning group bring their unique blend of “easygrass” to Johnson Park in Liverpool for the Liverpool is the Place Summer Concert Series, 7-9:00pm.
The Easy Ramblers are from the Central New York area and have become a favorite regional acoustic act, performing at places like The Westcott Theater, Bill Knowlton’s Bluegrass Ramble Picnic, The Tipperary Hill Music Festival and the Sterling Stage Folk Fest. They released Easy Does It, their debut recording, in 2011. Easy Does It won a Syracuse Area Music Award (SAMMY) in the “Best Country” category.
Last December the group celebrated the release of Country Livin’, their new compact disc. This recording includes nine originals and two covers. Like their live shows, Maureen Henesey, Dann Mather and Eddie Zacholl are joined by three talented musicians – Mark Allnatt (banjo), Scott Ebner (guitar and accordion) and Brendan Gosson (fiddle). In addition, there are appearances by two special guests – Jason Baraday (mandolin) and Joe Davoli (fiddle and mandolin).
Performing live, The Easy Ramblers mix their originals with hand-picked covers from the likes of Gillian Welch, Allison Krauss, Hot Rize, Peter Rowan and The Infamous Stringdusters.
With one listen you will come to realize there is a special chemistry with the blending of these three creative individuals. You hear craftsmanship, clever compositions, simplicity. Music that is old and new fun at the same time, layered with Maureen’s soaring vocal capabilities. Not pure folk or traditional bluegrass – easy grass? Regardless, as the name suggests, it’s worth the effort to stroll on over the next time The Easy Ramblers wander up to the bandstand.
