Patricia A. Burak has been the director of the Slutzker Center for International Services at Syracuse University since 1986. She joined the field of international educational exchange as a counselor and adviser at Syracuse University in 1977; earned a Doctor of Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences in 1996 in Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, and has taught a variety of courses in the College of Arts and Sciences since 1984. Included in the courses are freshmen forum, the Honors Freshmen Seminar, Living in a Global Environment for the International Living Learning Community, and Russian literature. She has held national and regional leadership positions within NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and through this organization, co-edited a book, Crisis Management in a Cross-Cultural Setting, 2001.
